Om vores lamper
How do I know the lamp is genuine Murano glass?

All our lamps are handmade by experienced glassmasters on the Murano island in the Venetian lagoon. Each piece is unique with small variations in shape and color – a hallmark of genuine, mouth-blown Murano glass. We work directly with the glassblowers and can guarantee the authenticity of all our products. Read more about our craftsmanship and production.

What are archive/2. sorting products?

Our archive/2nd quality are authentic Murano lamps with small cosmetic imperfections – e.g. a tiny air bubble in the glass or a minimal color shade. These flaws are nearly invisible and do not affect the lamp’s function or durability. In return, we offer them at a reduced price. See our archive sale.

What is Murano?

Murano is an island group in the Venetian Lagoon in Italy, world-renowned for its centuries-old glassblowing tradition. Since the 13th century, Murano's master glassblowers have perfected the art of shaping beautiful, colorful glass. Our lamps are handmade by these skilled artisans, and each piece is unique. Read more about our craft.

How are Murano lamps produced?

Each Murano lamp is mouth-blown by experienced glassmasters on Murano island. The process begins by melting glass at over 1000°C, after which the glassblower shapes it using traditional techniques. Colors are added with minerals and metal oxides. No two lamps are exactly alike — that’s what makes them special. Read more about the production.

What are Murano Candy lamps?

Murano Candy lamps are our signature collection featuring eye-catching striped glass designs in vibrant colors. Inspired by traditional Venetian glassmaking techniques, they combine classic craftsmanship with a modern, playful expression. See the full Candy collection.

How do I mount the lamp?

All our lamps can be hung up without professional help. Find our detailed guides: pendant guide and ceiling fixture guide.

Which bulbs should I use?

Most of our lamps use E27 sockets. The specific socket type is indicated on each product page. We recommend LED bulbs with warm light (2700K) to best highlight the beautiful Murano glass. Avoid bulbs with a higher wattage than recommended on the product page. See all our lamps.

How do I clean my Murano lamp?

Murano glass is beautiful but requires gentle care. Wipe carefully with a soft, damp cloth — avoid harsh cleaners. For detailed care instructions, visit our care guide.

Viden om Murano glas
Why are there bubbles in my murano glass?

Small air bubbles are actually a sign of authenticity. They occur naturally during the hand-blown process and are impossible to avoid completely when glass is shaped manually at over 1,000 degrees. Mass-produced glass rarely has these bubbles, as it’s made under controlled industrial conditions.

Which colors are murano candy pendant lamps available in?

Murano candy lamps are available in a wide palette of colors, from classic combinations like blue-white and red-white to more unique variants with green, yellow, orange, and pink swirls. Each lamp has its own unique pattern, as the glassblower shapes the swirls by hand.

What sizes do candy lamps come in?

Vetros candy lamps are available in three sizes: small (20 cm diameter), medium (30 cm diameter), and large (40 cm diameter). They come as pendants, flush mounts, wall lamps, and table lamps, so there is a size and type for every room.

Which color murano lamp suits my room?

It depends on the room’s existing color palette and the mood you want to create. Warm colors like yellow, orange, and red create a cozy atmosphere and suit living rooms and bedrooms. Cool colors like blue and green promote calm and are suitable for bathrooms and offices. Neutral colors like white swirl fit in any room.

What is the difference between a pendant and a flush-mount light?

A pendant hangs down from the ceiling on a cord and creates a focused point of light. A flush mount is installed directly on the ceiling and provides more diffuse, spread light. Pendants are ideal over dining tables and as focal pieces, while flush mounts are best suited for rooms with lower ceilings or as general lighting.

How can I tell if my murano glass is genuine?

Genuine murano glass is characterized by small air bubbles, slight asymmetry, vibrant colors, and a smooth pontil mark on the bottom. Original pieces often bear a Vetro Artistico Murano label or are signed by the glassmaster. The weight is heavier than mass-produced glass.

Can you tell the difference between genuine and fake murano glass?

Yes, genuine murano glass has characteristics like small air bubbles, slight asymmetry, and a pontil mark on the base. The colors are deeper and more vibrant than mass-produced glass, and the weight is typically heavier. Look for the maker’s label or signature as further confirmation.

How do you recognize a genuine murano mushroom lamp?

A true mushroom lamp has a characteristic mushroom shape with a round, domed top and a cylindrical base. The glass is mouth-blown with visible swirl patterns or uniformly colored glass. Look for quality indicators such as the weight of the glass, the pontil mark on the bottom, and the even thickness of the glass.

What is a murano candy pendant?

A murano candy lamp is a mouth-blown glass lamp with distinctive spiral-colored patterns reminiscent of traditional candy. Colored glass rods are fused into the base glass and twisted into soft swirls while the glass is glowing hot. The colors are a permanent part of the glass and can never fade.

What is a ceiling-mounted lamp?

A ceiling light (plafond) is a ceiling fixture mounted directly against the ceiling or with only a few centimeters of distance. It provides even, diffused light and is ideal for rooms with lower ceilings, hallways, and bathrooms. Murano plafonds combine this practical lamp shape with artistic mouth-blown glass.

Who designed the murano mushroom lamp?

The mushroom lamp was designed by Mario Gambaro and Bruno Poggi under the name Gambaro e Poggi for the glass workshop Vetri in the 1970s. It was produced in a limited number, which makes it a sought-after collector's item today.

Where is the best place to hang a murano lamp?

The most effective placements are above the dining table, in the hallway as an eye-catcher, or centrally in the living room. A murano lamp is a statement piece that deserves to be the room’s focal point. Avoid hiding it away in a corner where it won’t shine.

Can you combine several murano lamps in the same room?

Yes — but stick to the same color family or finish for a cohesive look. Two to three smaller lamps in the same color can create a beautiful grouping over a kitchen island, or a pendant can be paired with matching wall lamps. Avoid mixing too many different colors and styles.

Does genuine murano glass always come with a label or certificate?

Not always. Especially vintage murano glass may have lost its original label over the years. Today the trademark Vetro Artistico Murano protects authenticity, but many older pieces must instead be assessed based on the quality, technique, and characteristics of the glass.

Can the colours in murano glass fade over time?

No — the colors in genuine murano glass are created with metal oxides melted directly into the glass at over 1,000°C. They are a permanent part of the glass and cannot fade, flake off, or wear away, no matter how many years pass.

How much do murano glass pendants cost?

Prices vary widely depending on size, technique, age, and glazier. Smaller pieces like vases start from a few hundred kroner, while vintage murano lamps and larger artworks can cost from 2,000 to over 30,000 kr.

Are murano glass still produced today?

Yes, there are still active glass workshops on Murano, where master glassblowers continue the traditional techniques. However, the number of workshops has declined significantly, making both new and vintage pieces more valuable.

What is the difference between murano glass and ordinary glass?

Murano glass is hand-blown by master glassblowers on the island Murano near Venice using techniques perfected over 700 years. Unlike mass-produced glass, each piece is unique with distinctive colors, patterns, and small variations that testify to the craftsmanship.

What makes murano lamps different from other glass lamps?

Murano lamps are hand-blown by master glassmakers on the island of Murano near Venice using techniques perfected over 700 years. Each piece is unique with vibrant colors created by metal oxides. Unlike industrial glass, the colors will never fade because they are part of the glass itself.

Why are murano lamps expensive?

The price reflects the intensive craftsmanship behind each lamp. A single murano lamp can take several days to make, from glassblowing at over 1,000 degrees to slow cooling. In addition, the number of active glass workshops on Murano has fallen significantly, making production more limited.

Do murano lamps fit modern interiors?

Absolutely. Murano lamps' organic shapes and vibrant colors create a beautiful contrast with modern, minimalist decor. They serve as artistic focal points in clean, bright spaces and add warmth and personality to sleek, Scandinavian interiors.

What is a murano mushroom lamp worth?

The value depends on condition, color, and rarity. A mushroom lamp in good condition typically costs between 3,000 and 10,000 DKK. Rare colors and variants in perfect condition can reach higher prices. The mushroom lamp has increased significantly in value in recent years due to rising demand.

How low should a pendant hang above the dining table?

A murano pendant should hang 60–70 cm above the tabletop. This provides enough light for the table without blocking eye contact across it. In rooms with high ceilings you can go slightly higher. Vetros pendants come with an adjustable suspension so you can easily find the right height.

Can you use a murano ceiling pendant in the bathroom?

Yes, a ceiling fixture is actually ideal for the bathroom, as it sits close to the ceiling and isn’t in the way. Murano glass withstands moisture without any issues. Choose a size that suits the room’s proportions, and ensure installation is carried out by a certified electrician.

Can you use a murano lamp in rooms with low ceilings?

Yes, this is exactly where the ceiling fixture is ideal. Because it mounts directly to the ceiling, it takes up minimal space and works perfectly in rooms with ceiling heights down to 2.20 meters. This makes it suitable for hallways, bedrooms, and bathrooms.

How is a murano ceiling pendant installed?

A murano ceiling light is mounted on a junction box in the ceiling, just like other ceiling lamps. We always recommend using a licensed electrician for installation. Find detailed instructions in our hanging guide. The glass is heavy (approx. 2–4 kg depending on size), so ensure the mounting is secure.

Which color of murano lamp is most popular?

At Vetro the blue-white swirl is the most popular color combination, closely followed by pink and white. Classic combinations like red-white and green-white are also highly sought after. The choice often depends on the interior style, but the blue and white shades fit into most Scandinavian homes.

How long does it take to make a murano lamp?

The glassblowing itself typically takes 15–45 minutes per piece depending on complexity. However, the overall process includes preparing the glass batch, coloring, shaping, and a slow cooling process (annealing) that can take up to 24 hours to prevent stress in the glass.
