The most unique, rare and special vintage Murano lamps
We have handled many vintage Murano lamps, and every now and then we come across one we’ve never seen before. Here we give you an insight into the rarest lamps on our shelves.
The UFO-like Murano mushroom table lamp with a distinctive swirl
The unknown Murano egg lamp
We have never had a lamp that has provoked such mixed reactions as our lamps that most of all resemble the shape of an egg. Perhaps not the most flattering reference, but it’s likely the closest way to describe this special Murano glass lamp. With its unusual shape, the egg lamp — both as a table lamp and as a floor lamp — receives many comments in our showroom. Despite its distinctive form, we now love the rare egg lamp above all, in both large and small sizes.
The much-loved mushroom with rounded shapes
You have probably seen the popular table lamp shaped like a mushroom, and it comes in many variants. The mushroom lamp, as it is called, is most often mouth-blown in a single piece of glass — and we say "most often" because that is how we usually find it — but sometimes we find a mushroom made in two glass parts, that is, a shade and a base. Color, pattern and size vary if you are lucky enough to come across this beautiful table lamp. The shape will always be recognizable, but it appears in different versions. We have fallen in love with a particularly rounded mushroom table lamp, and because of its shape we call it champignon. It is not often we find it, but when we do, we simply cannot resist its beautiful rounded forms and characteristic closed top.
Colorful mouth-blown Murano lamps in various shades and forms

If you own a vintage lamp in cream or soft yellow, consider yourself quite lucky. There are many shades of yellow, but it is especially the cream-colored and very pale tones that stand out. Murano lamps in this color give off a pleasant light on their own, which makes the lamp desirable. We also believe they are popular because they look warm even when the light is off. That suits Nordic homes well. Unfortunately, there are not many of them.
Two-toned Murano mushroom table lamps

We have only a few times found two-toned vintage Murano mushroom table lamps, so they naturally belong to our rare finds. Two mushroom lamps in particular have stood out for their coveted colors: the pink-and-white table lamp with a beautiful swirl, and the blue-and-pink lamp with a swirl. The latter has especially made an impression, since pink and blue are two very popular colors, and when they are combined in the same lamp, it’s hard to find much better. It must be one of the lamps we will never forget.

The candy-striped Murano mushroom family
It is truly rare that we find multiple examples of the same lamp, but we have managed it — and in multicolor too. We found three vintage Murano mushrooms with a closed top that stand out in shape from the Murano lamps we had found previously. With its beautiful form, the glassblower managed to pull the colors pink, blue, gray and yellow from the lamp’s base up to a lovely finish at the top. We love them and think they would work wonderfully in a child’s room.
From vintage finds to our own collection
At VETRO our love for Murano began with the hunt for special vintage finds — lamps with history, color and the unique character that only mouth-blown glass can have. For years we curated vintage Murano lamps while at the same time working on developing our own collection.
In close collaboration with Murano maestros we have spent several years refining shapes, colors and details in what has today become our Candy collection. A collection created with respect for tradition, but with VETRO’s own eye for color, proportions and modern interiors.
That is why you no longer find vintage lamps at VETRO today. Instead, our universe consists of our own handcrafted glass lamps — designed by us and produced in Italy in close collaboration with our glassblowers. Lamps that carry on the heritage of Murano, but are created for today’s homes.
