The iconic Italian Spaghetti chair that still enjoys international acclaim

Italian designer Giandomenico Belotti is one of Italy's most acclaimed designers of all time. In 1979 he designed the first chair for the furniture manufacturer Alias, which has since become one of the most iconic chairs internationally, with a permanent display at MoMA (The Museum of Modern Art) in New York. The chair is simply executed and consists of a chrome frame with transparent PVC strands that are flexible and make it comfortable to sit on.

The Spaghetti chair, as it is called, has a timeless and simple design — the reason for its enduring popularity over the years. Today the iconic chair is available in several variants, and you can find it as both a lounge chair and a dining chair.

Tommaso Barbi is an Italian designer who created voluminous coffee tables, lamps, picture frames and beautiful bowls throughout the 1970s — all handmade in ceramics. Imagine wood-panelled walls, bamboo furniture and large houseplants filling the living room. A heavy interior with pieces that often referenced a garden-like atmosphere and the nature outside the home's four walls. That was the style back then and very representative of Tommaso Barbi's designs. His lamps are especially inspired by nature, where snakes, palms and shells are reflected. Adapted to the popular heavy colours of the '70s, Tommaso Barbi worked with particularly browns and other neutral shades in his designs. Colours that in recent years have found their way back into many homes, especially here in Denmark. A return to deep, warm colours like burnt orange and reddish-brown makes Tommaso Barbi's design feel modern again. His warm colour choices suit many Nordic homes today, while also complementing the minimalist Scandinavian style.

Tommaso Barbi has a consistent style where ceramics and brass are the most commonly used materials in his designs. Often separate — as a single bowl or a fully cast brass lamp — or together, where brass forms the details on his ceramics and allows them to complement each other. He is especially skilled at working with hard materials without making them feel harsh; instead he moves towards soft, rounded shapes, as seen in this dish.

His technique often features a simple design with twists that give the recognizable organic style. The glaze is single-coloured with small variations that make it lively to look at and reveal the craftsmanship behind it. Despite its age, this bowl still works well in contemporary interiors, either for storing jewellery or as the family's fruit bowl.

Exceptional Murano vases for decorating with

Toso is the surname of one of Italy's most esteemed glass manufacturers across generations and the name still exists today. Originally it was run by six brothers, and they were particularly known for Millefiori, where many small glass pieces are assembled to form, for example, a vase. A glass style with many colours and fine details that, as the name suggests, resembles a thousand flowers. Millefiori is many tiny glass rods combined so they form a mosaic-like pattern. The colours are often strong shades such as blue, orange, green and red.

The creation of Millefiori consists of several glass rods that are melted together to form a flower pattern. The rods are then sliced into smaller pieces. The glassblower blows the shape into the hot glass, such as a vase or a water glass, after which the outside is dipped all the way around into the small glass pieces. In this way different glasses melt together without the pattern disappearing. That is what is called Millefiori.

The family has over time kept their designs in strong colours, like the two vases. Two vases that have been part of the family's private collection. The glassworks had its last own production on the island in 1968-1970 and this vase comes from that final production. Since then the vase has been part of the Fratelli Toso family's private collection and it still has the original sticker. An absolute collectible in perfect condition.

Give the vases attention by placing them on the windowsill so sunlight can shine through and project the pattern from the glass onto the sill. The vases also work well beside the bathroom sink or with a small roadside bouquet on the dining table.
